Robert Scoble in Tallinn


Auf dem Blog zu Naked Conversations berichtet Robert Scoble von seiner Reise durch Europa. Die letzten Tage war er in Tallinn und traf sich u.a. mit Sten Tamkivi, dem 28 jährigen CEO von Skype. Das Skype seine Wurzeln in Estland hat, war bisher an mir irgendwie vorbeigegangen.

Ein Bericht der Credit Suisse über diese baltische Erfolgsgeschichte brachte mich aber wieder auf den aktuellen Stand.

Es ist für mich immer wieder faszinierend zu sehen, welche Entwicklung Estland seit Anfang der 90er gemacht hat. Einen guten Eindruck vermittelt das folgende Bild, welches Robert in Tallinn geschossen hat.

Es zeigt eine junge Frau auf den Stufen eines sehr alten Gebäudes. Sie ist so vertieft in ihren Mac, dass sie sich vom Regen überhaupt nicht stören läßt. Bei den sehr guten Breitbandverbindungen in Estland wird sie wahrscheinlich sich gerade in den Tiefen des World Wide Webs befinden.

Weitere interessante Informationen über das heutige Estland findet man ebenfalls bei Robert Scoble, in seinem Bericht über das Treffen mit dem estnischen Ministerpräsidenten Toomas Hendik Ilves, den er ebenso traf wie den ehemaligen MP Mart Laar

Ich glaube es wird Zeit, dass ich auch ‘mal wieder nach Tallinn reise. Das letzte Mal war ich glaube ich 1994 dort.

Im Anschluß an seinen Besuch in Estland flog Robert übrigens weiter nach Berlin.
